High Sierras

On July 1, 2015 I headed out on a road trip with my former neighbor and good friend, Paul. After loading up his pickup truck with everything we might need, including a new camping tent and sleeping bags as a backup in case we couldn’t book rooms along the way, we took off on our High Sierra adventure.

Having no sleep the night before, I was very tired and a little grouchy, which doesn’t make for a good first day on the road. We grabbed a chicken sandwich at a Burger King along the way beforeĀ stopping at Lone Pine where Paul knew of some old railroad cars he wanted to show me. The restored steam engine was housed in a tent, so we had to settle for seeing it on a brochure.

After stopping along the way to photograph an old rock building and some roadside kitsch, we made it to our first destination, Bishop, California, home of the famous Sheepherder Bread.
